Energy money? I chose the title Scarce Ignorance because the article by Gary North informs i.e. that absence of ignorance. There is a link between oil and the dollar. As oil becomes scarce the dollar becomes worthless because currency is linked to energy. Power is energy forcing work. It may be hard to see. It is not impossible. In simple terms: Any retirement plan that depends upon a flow of dollars from anywhere will be an investment in a future where oil flows freely; an abundant supply of oil energy – assuming the powers that be, or status quo, remain in power. Any reinvestment strategy that liquidates dollar investments into alternate energy sources, like buying a solar panel array and an electric car, will end a dependence upon the free flow of oil and the status quo – powers that be. Here is the odd part: The powers that be, the status quo, subsidize (finance with tax money), alternate energy purchases; in other words – a solar panel system for the house is paid for, in part, by the powers that be, the status quo, with dollars that were once earned, then taken, and given back to those who do invest in alternate energy sources. The last time I checked the numbers – the cost of purchasing a Solar Panel System for the home was half personal expense and half government give away. The Solar Panel System, not counting an electric car (or hydrogen car even better), creates a flow of energy (no electric bill), for 30 years as reported in my past investigations. That return on investment may have increased since my last investigations. The current rate of return is also made more economical (more bang for the buck) as Electricity (and gasoline prices in the case of the electric car or the hydrogen car) prices rise. As oil prices rise and as the value of the dollar falls, as that happens, the bang for the alternate energy buck becomes more and more valuable. Worst case example: As your neighbor is standing in a bread line because your neighbor cannot drive to work, cannot heat his house, cannot cool his house, cannot cook his food (maybe with wood), and cannot feed his family, as that happens, you sell him your electricity for half the bread he can get while he stands in line. You can sell hot food. You can charge up your electric car and drive people to the bread line. You can even bake bread. Power-Independence Gary North is a good man. He may not be wise. He sure is smart. |
