Test free will during typing. What power is in play when the next word typed is the next word typed and not a different word typed? Is this sentence, for example, added to this reply as a result of a power that is external to the author of this sentence? If the power is internal, not external, then the power that caused that sentence to be produced could be a measure of free will; whereby the internal, or individual, power was controlled at that moment in time by that individual, or internal, power. I can say, from my own perspective, that I am the power that is in play when I decided which words to type, and when I decided to press the Submit button, and no one else had power over me, at that time, to make me publish the sentence, or the word, or the reply, and no one else made me stop, like I am now going to do, and walk away, to rethink, and reconsider pressing the submit button. I reconsidered, after walking away, and I can say that there is a power at work, and the power may, or may not be exclusively internal to me, this being that my perspective is attached to, but the fact remains that I, and not the flip of a coin, have decided to hit the submit button. A better test for this free will power stuff might be a goal that is very difficult to accomplish, against all odds as it were, whereby an individual does accomplish the goal - what power is at play in such things? How about, for example, suicide? If that is the goal, the choice to do so can't be attributed to the genetic power of survival. There is a power, and it is individual, and the word used to describe this power doesn't alter the power, will or not. Well, I haven't yet hit the button, to Submit. I'm looking for a specific thing, a power, a force, a cause, other than my own single, solitary, and individual power, in play, here, right now. What, I am looking for, is the power in play when (or if) I actually press the button. I'll walk away again, and see if I can accurately identify the power at play - during this test for this thing called "Free Will". The button may be pressed, or it may not be pressed, and if the button is pressed, it will almost certainly be me doing the pressing - who else? Anyone else would see this web page and exit out of it, or ask me about it, which isn't very likely. Almost certainly the power involved here will be accurately identified as the power in my sole command. I am going to cut and paste this into a note pad file and set a time and day for me to test my free will again. I'm going to decide now to publish this tomorrow morning, not right now, as trivial as the decision to do this may be, I'm going to leave the decision up to a future me, not a present me. No one else will cut and paste a note pad file onto this forum topic and hit the submit button tomorrow. If I am free to make a choice, I can and will do so, when I alone decide to do so, and no one else will do so, because no one else has this power, this exclusive power, this power that is in play when this person acts.
