According to a recent Roper survey commissioned by Sharp Electronics Corporation, nearly 90 percent of Americans think that solar electricity should be an option for all new home construction, up significantly from one year ago (79 percent).

So how do you prepare for a spaceflight? How do you know how the ups-and-downs will feel? Virgin Galactic, the suborbital space tourism venture backed by British billionaire Richard Branson, is already setting up a medical information and screening system to get its first fliers ready to launch.

The engine works by stripping electrons from hydrogen atoms and accelerating the resulting plasma in an electric field. Expelling the plasma out of the back of the engine generates thrust. The technique is known as Variable Specific-Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) technology, and was conceived in the 1970s.

Atlantis' return was the 51st time a space shuttle touched down at the Edwards Air Force Base since 1981. It capped a two-week mission to finish construction work on the international space station and bring a crew member home from the outpost.

I'm posting that forum discussion here because the final frontier can't be reached without energy.

Cost-less energy increases purchasing power. How much power will a round trip ticket cost to Mars and Back?

A link from that link above:

http://hindu.com/2006/09/29/stories/2006092901421800.htm

HEFEI (CHINA): Chinese scientists on Thursday successfully conducted their first test of an experimental thermonuclear fusion reactor, which replicates the energy generating process of the sun.

The Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) fusion reactor, nicknamed ``artificial sun,'' was tested at the Institute of Plasma Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Hefei.

During the experiment, deuterium and tritium atoms

That is Fusion not Fission. Fission is the 'China Syndrome' stuff; melt down - etc.

Fusion is not Fission.

Unlike traditional nuclear fission reactors, which split atoms to create energy and produce dangerous radioactive waste, EAST uses nuclear fusion to compress atoms at extremely high temperatures to generate energy that would produce very little pollution.

Scientists theorise that a fully functional fusion reactor would provide cheaper, safer, cleaner and endless energy and reduce the world's dependence on fossil fuels. — Xinhua

http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2007/08/06/neil-tyson-on-exploring-space/

How many times have we heard the mantra: “Why are we spending billions of dollars up there in space when we have pressing problems down here on Earth?” Let’s re-ask the question in an illuminating way: “What is the total cost in taxes of all spaceborne telescopes, planetary probes, the rovers on Mars, the space station and shuttle, telescopes yet to orbit and missions yet to fly?” Answer: less than 1% on the tax dollar—7/10ths of a penny, to be exact.

[…]

So, with 99 out of 100 cents going to fund the rest of our nation’s priorities, the space program is not now (nor has it ever really been) in anybody’s way.

Levitation has been elevated from being pure science fiction to science fact, according to a study reported today by physicists.

I'm going to call this ignorance.

I can do that if I want.

For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving.
