The stock market would react immediately with unprecedented movement of capital out of the oil, coal, and gas companies and into the new-energy developers. Imagine the effects on personal prosperity when people would no longer be enslaved to Big Oil and the petrochemical dominance of science. Imagine a world where fuel, heating and electricity bills would be a thing of the past.
Power produced to oversupply reduces the price of power while purchasing power increases because power reduces the cost of producing power: say no to the falsehood called zero-sum game.
