"I have what I think is the finished product. :)"

That is wonderful Joe!

So exciting! Send it back when you can and I'll take a final read through. Tuesday looks like my most open day. The boys starts school then.

"I am a little bit unsettled with the deal made earlier about sending you 10 copies at the cost of 10 FRNs each, as you could just as easily get those 10 copies without paying anything for them, and then if you sell them, you could buy more with the money made in selling them.

I guess old prejudices concerning how equitable commerce is done are sources of unsettled feelings. "

Joe, I feel good about the deal. I want one signed copy for me, and then I will give the others as gifts. It is my contribution towards the printing cost as well. I want it that way. If I remember right, Jack gave $100 for printing...are you giving him 10 copies or 1? :)...That may be an interesting take on gathering printing money as well as distributing a sprinkling of copies. Kind of like mini distributors. They pay $100 and get 10 copies to give away (or sell if they like). It seems like that would be a way to work with close friends and family as they have a personal interest in the author and his book...Maybe you could pretend your wife is giving you $100 and give her 10 copies as well to give as gifts. That would be $300 of the $500 printing cost, right? (And 30 of the 100 books.)

Anyways, I had another thought today about your idea of selling a book for $100 and then having that person sell it for $90 and then the next $80, etc with a log in front of the book (I think that is the way you explained it).

My thought was, due to my JTK Education, with open competition, is there any reason why the book cannot be marketed multiple ways? Who says there has to be a single set price AND single set way of selling your product? Does not competition say that multiple paths can be taken simultaneously? Your family may have fun with the $100 pass it down deal and may also have friends who would have fun doing that as well! That may be a lot of fun. I can see my step dad's family doing something like that. They are a fun bunch. I tend to be more on the melancholy side (one of those traits I learned about when I took one of those personality tests back in the 80's).

So, it will be fun for me to give someone a copy of the book and tell them, "I am the bear in the book, please read it and see what you think." That may sound boring to Joe, but not to bear. (And bear does not like to sell things. It makes bear feel very uneasy inside. But when bear gives things away it makes her feel really good.)

Maybe with the DP folks there will be a completely different way of marketing that hasn't even been thought of yet?

I can see sending a signed copy to Michael as a gift. It could come out of my gift set. Who knows, Michael may even write or post about it...now that may be thinking too forward, but the thought came between my 2 ears and out my finger tips.

Have fun with you family and brother. I bet Joe makes some good spaghetti!

We are going to go look for a Trombone for Scott this evening. Jeff has been hunting Craig's List and has come up with several good leads.
