Off shore drilling in reverse? The machines conversion process can turn two pounds of plastic into one quart of oil, using only one kilowatt-hour of energy. The crude oil produced can then either be used in a power generator or be further refined into gasoline, though one would need a second machine to complete the refining process and create gasoline. Why do I mention off-shore drilling? Great Pacific Garbage Patch Here is a puzzle for the engineers. How much fuel would a huge oil tanker consume during a trip through the floating plastic island in the Pacific Ocean if one were converted into a reaper or skimmer vessel and used to farm the plastic for fuel production? What would be the cost/benefit ratio for a diesel engine ship compared to a solar/lunar/wave powered ship? What about tapping into that power source in Yellowstone where the volcano is threatening to erupt?
