The dollar's collapse and a deep recession/depression in the United States are on the horizon, and why not let Democrats share the blame when it turns out there's little that can be done to turn the situation around?
Above is a return to this:

Which is titled this:

The Republicans Took a Dive

Which is back to this:

there's little that can be done to turn the situation around?

I have a teen age daughter who defeats herself occasionally and in those times she finds me for pity and advice. I don’t respond, or enable, the pity. I do offer advice. I say to my daughter that when you conclude something as being impossible, then, something, according to you, is impossible.

What’s the problem?

My daughter listens.

I say: If you have a problem, then, you have a challenge. If you have a challenge, then, you can work at finding a solution. Your ‘problem’ becomes an ‘opportunity’.

What is the problem?

“I can’t”

That is a problem.

Here is a solution or two:

If one considers the level of ‘subsidy’ now empowering the oil industry, then, the competition must be pretty darn good to gain any market share whatsoever. Once the obvious choices for less costly (including less pollution) fuels become more and more obvious, then, the oil market will tend to topple, even free fall, like the dollar (not a coincidence), as greater powers emerge in the global POWER markets.

Imagine the efforts made by wannabe Kings and Presidents to make sure “Free Trade” remains “Free” from competition if, for example, one huge country started flooding the Global Market with Bio-diesel?

If, for example, China offered the world a ready flow of Bio-diesel at half the cost of oil (things do not happen over night), then, would the U.S. “Capitalists” try to attach an import fee to Chinese bio-diesel?

What would happen?

A steady flow of Bio-diesel enters the U.S. while a steady flow of something goes to China.

One might think that it would be a good idea to stop making military hardware with the steady flow of POWER (Fuel) and instead to begin to make something that the Chinese people actually want and something that the Chinese PEOPLE actually need.

Here is an idea:

For X amount of dollars a person can buy a POWER HOUSE.

The POWER HOUSE is modular, meaning, it can be a basic POWER HOUSE or it can be a deluxe POWER HOUSE. I’ll use KW for short.

The basic KW unit is a steel frame on a trailer (like a mobile home) that supports an array of Solar Panels.

The basic unit can be driven to any spot on the planet and used for electric power during the day. The basic modular unit is small. The basic modular unit times 10 is 10 times bigger.

The basic unit can be used to power all construction tools that use electricity at the construction site.

The basic unit can be parked next to a mobile home in a mobile home park and the basic unit can supply all the electricity (during the day) for one, two, three, four, five, etc. mobile homes depending upon the size of the modular KW unit.

Note: If the KW unit had a glass dome roof with one way (mirrored on the inside) glass, then, would the solar panel roof gain more power as the sunlight bounced around inside the roof?

Note: One basic ‘small’ power unit could run one house during the day and the basic unit (like a mobile home) could be set down on concrete like a shed (it may even have room inside for storage if it is a basic unit).

Additional features:

Added to the basic unit could be (inside the metal building) batteries for storing excess (unused) electricity generated (and not used) during the day. This increases the demand for more Solar Panels (over and above the expected usage of electricity during the day) attached to the modular basic unit. The battery ‘option’ could be ‘cheap’ batteries on the low end and very efficient (but more costly) batteries on the high end.

Added to the basic unit could be a water solar heating radiator (heated by the sun in the day) and all the assorted quick hook up hardware.

Note: The electric hook up hardware is insulated from the water hook up hardware – of course.

Added to the basic unit could be a hydrogen gas electrolyzer (generating hydrogen from water) that automatically starts to fill a hydrogen gas tank when the hydrogen gas tank is depressurized (a float system kicks on the generation of more hydrogen) from use of hydrogen (hydrogen can replace natural gas). The hydrogen generation circuitry can be tailor made to run only during the day while sunlight is making electricity and only when no other electric needs are needed (regulated by voltage).

Added to the basic unit could be a sewer hook up for electrolyzing sewer water (from a porta potty on the construction site or from the home sewer system) and turning sewer water into more gaseous fuel (fuels that can run the next item).

Added to the basic unit could be a hydrogen gas (from straight water or from sewer water) powered electric generator (for generating electricity when the sun isn’t shinning and when the batteries are low on power). A regular diesel or gasoline powered electric generator can be converted to hydrogen gas power or on the TOP END the additional unit could have a hydrogen fuel cell electric generator.

Added to the basic unit could be a combination of the above power sources, power generators, power storage, and power governing combinations.

The modular basic unit could be a small shed or a large building.

The units could be shipped on wheels completely assembled.

The units could be shipped as separate assembled components.

The units could be shipped as unassembled parts.

The units could be placed along the construction route when laying pipe out along the Chinese desert to bring water to algae farms.
