US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, as against the "new crazies," is supposedly pursuing the diplomatic track with Teheran. But the Party Line holds, unchanged. In April, Rice spoke about what she would say if she encountered her Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki at the international conference on Iraq at Sharm el Sheikh. "What do we need to do? It's quite obvious," Rice said. "Stop the flow of arms to foreign fighters; stop the flow of foreign fighters across the borders." She is referring, of course, to Iranian fighters and arms. US fighters and arms are not "foreign" in Iraq. Or anywhere. The tacit premise underlying her comment, and virtually all public discussion about Iraq (and beyond) is that we own the world.
Note: When Noam Chomsky uses the term "democracy" it must be understood that his version of the term does not necessarily mean: Will of the Majority.
Democracy is, if I am not mistaken, a notion shared by Noam whereby every single law that is enforced upon anyone is enforced by everyone "universally" and any one person, anywhere, can voluntarily veto any law at any time if the law is exclusive to only one person.
This should be easy to understand and if this is not easy to understand, then, that confusion is a measure of falsehood or that confusion is a measure of crime.
Example:
Suppose a new law as 'democratically' enacted by people (the number of people is irrelevant beyond one = one person alone is his own law = add any number of people together and 'law' becomes a power equation) and the new law says:
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
The new law above is written in words and recorded at the law office where laws are recorded and kept (just in case someone forgets the law as it was written when it was written) so everyone can know, without any doubt whatsoever, what the law did, in fact, say.
Repeat:
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
That is the law enacted by people.
Before moving on - please consider how absurd the mere discussion of a law that makes an exception to the idea of torturing and murdering millions of people for profit and, at the same time, know that people are being tortured and murdered by the millions FOR PROFIT right now and on into the foreseeable future.
Back to THE LAW
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
Now suppose the 'democratically' law above was looked at with military precision and scientific study for validity and the outcome of this intense effort inspired THE POEPLE to add a few notations to the law before moving the law along the process where the law is funded and then executed.
THE LAW:
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
Additional notations of the law (just in case someone isn't quite up to speed concerning the actual implications of the law):
Everyone must not torture and murder millions of innocent unborn babies, born babies, toddlers, children, teen agers, young men and young women, productive adults, wise old experienced adults continuing to be productive, and any human being unable to defned themselves alone or in groups of mutual defense associations.
Now the 'democracy' has the basic LAW written and the more detailed notations written (just in case someone somewhere is ignorant of this law which may or may not be an excuse for breaking or not following this law) into LAW.
Suppose now that the LAW (democratically enacted by more than one person) was parked on the shelf for some time before being moved into the funding phase (never mind the execution of the LAW phase).
Who needed to fund the LAW?
No one.
No one needed to fund the LAW and that is why the LAW remained on the shelf.
Meanwhile a few people began to see a problem with the LAW as the LAW was written.
The LAW said:
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
The number of people finding fault with the LAW grew.
Soon the number of people finding fault with the LAW (as written) decided to do something about their ANTI-LAW position concerning the LAW (as it was written).
What could this number of people do concerning the LAW as it was written?
The idea being: to do something about this LAW before this LAW funded and before this LAW was executed.
ANTI-LAW people asked:
Who are the exceptions?
LAW people were silent.
ANTI-LAW people grew even more concerned (before the LAW is funded and before the LAW is executed) due to the silence. The ANTI-LAW people were deafened by the silence. The silence fueled a burning fire like a gasoline and oxygen mix can accelerate a mere spark into a rapidly burning explosion.
Suppose, now (democracy now), that THE PEOPLE grew in numbers to such an extent against THE LAW (as it was written) that these people began to congregate into large PARTIES roaming the streets with signs and bull horns and massive demonstrations seeking a very precise answer to a very precise question:
Who is excepted?
Does anyone remember THE LAW?

If you have any doubts concerning the meaning of the term "Democracy" used by Noam, then, consider the above story and consider reading any work by Noam and look for the meaning behind the word "Universality" before attaching any significance to the word "Democracy" as it is written by Noam Chomsky.
Here is "Democracy" as it is written by me:
Any one person can veto any law that is not universally applied to everyone. The law applies to everyone without exception.
If the reader is wondering as to which planet my viewpoint managed to be born from or if the reader is wondering if my tin hat fits well, then, I am inclined to point back to the law, where, the reader is probably funding it and executing it FOR PROFIT:
Everyone except me must not torture and murder millions of people for profit.
When the number of people who can torture and murder millions of people for profit with impunity grow, then, the number of people being tortured and murdered grow.
THE LAW becomes self-fulfilling after THE LAW is funded.
Look in the mirror. Are you torturing or being tortured? Are you murdering or are you being murdered? Are you deaf, dumb, and blind or are you silenced, stupefied, and falsified?
The words you use to describe THE LAW may be false. If so, then, you have been disarmed.
If the words you use to describe THE LAW are false on purpose, then, you are one of the many democrats funding and executing THE LAW for your own PROFIT.
When the number of LAW abiding citizens reach a majority, then, mass torture and murder will increase to a rate of unprecedented scale (nuclear war) on purpose for profit.
Who will be the exception at that time?

The reader may 'think' that the reader is abiding by THE LAW (as it is written) and therefore the reader may 'believe' that he or she is innocent.
Please read the fine print:
Everyone must not torture and murder millions of innocent unborn babies, born babies, toddlers, children, teenagers, young men and young women, productive adults, wise old experienced adults continuing to be productive, and any human being unable to defend themselves alone or in groups of mutual defense associations.
Productive people help make life more enjoyable because our combined efforts lower the cost of life and our mutual support facilitates prosperity for our own lives and for posterity.
