The idea here is to figure out a way to perceive International Money is a way that can make logical sense out of a whole lot of falsehood. The first thing to do is a little application of sympathy. Ask, for example, what it would be like to be in charge of International Money. The first observation, then, is to ask if one can be in charge of International Money. The answer is no. One person can only be in charge of his own money. In order to be in charge of International Money there must be, by definition, at least two people involved. One person is in charge of American money and one person is in charge of Chinese money; for example. The next thing; or perhaps the more important first thing, is to see that money is not something that one person would ever imagine into being. Money is something that more than one person imagines into being because money is the stuff that goes from one person to another person. If the money goes from one person and then that other person hides the money forever, then, we are back at the no money situation. Is it not obvious that money defined in this manner is a transfer? In fact; money is only valuable because it is used during transfer. The above should be very, very, obvious. One cannot have any use for money without, at least, one more person who shares the idea. If that is not very, very, obvious, then, this effort identifies one obvious falsehood. I'm looking in the mirror and asking myself: Am I the one sharing a very, very, obvious falsehood with myself? My refection is looking back and saying: Yes, stupid, you are writing again. When will you ever learn? And there I go trying to transfer money with myself and finding no value in it. Money remains an obvious medium of exchange between more than one person; a sharing of an idea and a commonly understood standard of value. So money, then, is value transfer stuff. That is the value of money. The stuff can also be valuable. One can call money gold or gold money. One can call dollars money. One can value gold. One can value dollars. A gold nose ring may look really nice to someone wearing one as someone looks in the mirror; perhaps the ring has a gold chain for pulling like a naked male with roller skates at a costume party i.e. a pull toy. A dollar can be burned if the bathroom is cold while someone looks in the mirror staring at the nose ring made of gold, all alone, in peace and harmony, all by ones self, in perfect solitude. How nice. The value of money becomes current once that individual passes the gold nose ring or the ashes of the dollar to someone else. Another person may want the ashes in exchange for another gold nose ring. See how that works? The ashes continue to have value even after the energy contained in the paper is consumed with fire. The value of money as currency is the value of commerce. The value is the fact that money exchanges first and that money has a common value second. Commerce is a big word. It may be too big for this effort. This effort intends to make sense of International Money. International Money isn't as complicated as Commerce. Which came first: Commerce or Money, Nations or States, Chickens or eggs? International Money is as simple as trading a Gold Ring for a pile of ashes. I hope the reader is able to see how the USA and China can be a good start in making sense of this International Money stuff. We can play the parts of USA and China now. I'll have to play both parts. It may help to start out simple and build up. Suppose it is day one for Mr. USA as he begins to take control of USA money. Imagine that Mr. USA has a whole lot of helpers in the USA who are willing to experiment in Mr. USA money. Imagine that you are Mr. USA; the great decider of USA money. Mr. China is also starting his first day. Mr. China starts out very, very simple. Mr. China makes one Money. It is one piece of paper. Mr. China calls this piece of paper a Yuan. Perhaps Mr. China is bored during his first day and one of his helpers noticed how Mr. China was yawning while Mr. China asked his helper: What should we call this piece of paper? Mr. USA, on the other hand, is fond of making things very, very complex and so Mr. USA begins to plan a great economic theory based upon the helpers total population numbers. Mr. USA begins by adding up all the helpers. Mr. USA asks some of the helpers to help out and they do: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/rankorder/2119rank.html 298,444,215 Since Mr. USA is thinking about trading with China, then, Mr. USA asks for the Chinese number too: 1,313,973,713 Mr. USA wants to gain from past experiences so Mr. USA picks a wild number out of his ass to use as a standard of comparison for Mr. USA's new total population monetary theory. Again; Mr. USA is just starting his new job as the Money Man and Mr. USA can do whatever he decides to do concerning USA money; today. Remember that Mr. USA has a grand plan to issue money based on some population formula. Mr. USA now wants to get an idea on how past Money Men have managed that ratio between money units and helper units. Mr. USA finds this: http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=182 The War in Iraq Costs $281,176,0 $281,176,15...6...7 Damn that won't do. That figure keeps going up and at the same time the population goes down. Mr. USA needs something more stable. How about this: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
Drum roll............... $8,372,322,612,104.40
Now, this may be very, very difficult to understand so before proceeding with the imaginary logical experiment in International Money, before doing that, let us imagine that Mr. USA wins some strange outer space lottery and the Space Alien allows Mr. USA to write a check to pay off that Debt before Mr. USA can start fresh as Mr. USA proceeds along on his first day as Money Man. Perhaps it is time to get some coffee too. Back after the break; Mr. USA writes the check: Eight Trillion, Three Hundred Seventy Two Billion, Three Hundred Twenty Two Million, Six Hundred Twelve Thousand, One Hundred Four and Forty Cents Mr. USA hands the check to a helper who then pays China and the other dudes who invested in that short term pyramid scheme. It is now lunch time. Meanwhile over in China; Mr. China adds his unexpected bounty to his one money unit: The one Yuan. Mr. USA, on the other hand, now has a clean but empty account from which to begin making his new Money Scheme based upon population. Taking out the calculator, Mr USA, begins doing some figuring in order to figure out how many dollars to make so as to begin distributing the New American Economy. All the helpers expect to hear the presentation of the new plan on their favorite "News" source. Some may have to look a little harder to find the new plan, since, their favorite news source may be reporting the mating habits of some obscure vegetable in the Antarctic. Mr. USA fumbles with the calculator as a helper points out "hey dude; there is a number all ready for you!" Mr. USA says "Shut up; I'm figuring" An hour later; Mr. USA asks the helper to point out that number: The estimated population of the United States is 298,722,495 so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,027.09. Now Mr. USA runs into a curious problem. The problem, and it turns out to be a very, very big problem, is that Mr. USA wants to distribute a whole lot to himself and, at the same time, Mr. USA wants to distribute very, very little to everyone else. That may not seem like a big problem: "Just do it". Mr. USA can add. If he reports to all his helpers, this plan, then, the helpers may not want to help anymore. Mr. USA bites the bullet and moves his desired share down and moves everyone else's share up. Mr. USA finds a happy medium. That was a real chore. Mr. USA was thinking: "100 Gazillion for me...one penny for everyone else. Mr. USA spent all afternoon and finally used the previous brainiacs ending number; rounded off: $30,000.00 per helper including $30,000.00 for Mr. USA. The plan hit the airwaves with much confusion and diverse reactions. Many were very disgruntled. Many more were happy as clams. Before the end of the week it was obvious to everyone, including those who watch their favorite news channel, that the new plan was quite New. During the week the checks begin arriving in the mail. Helpers distributed millions of Thirty Thousand Dollar checks, and, according to plan, on Saturday, the only money that was legal "for all debts - public and private" are these 30 thousand dollar checks. Meanwhile in China, Mr. China, remained fixed upon his one money idea. Mr. China enforced one yuan and that one yuan is just one piece of paper. All these things are setting the stage for the first New International Money Summit held in Waco Texas. I can hold this event anywhere I want and the reader can do as they wish; at liberty. It is an event that is recorded live on C-Span. Some of the favorite "News" channels also report it; albeit edited for "Brevity". Before entertaining what Mr. USA will do at this summit it may help to add Mr. China's plan; according to me. Mr. China offers Mr. USA one check. This check simply says: China will send Mr. USA anything Mr. USA wants and China will only ask for a standard rate of exchange in return. Mr. USA is obviously confused so Mr. China extrapolates er.. explains er... tries to use words that can manage to communicate exactly what is meant by the offer presented by Mr. China to Mr. USA: Mr. China will send anything Mr. USA wants so long as Mr. USA promises to give one thing for one thing today and one thing for one thing tomorrow and one thing for one thing from now until Mr. USA or Mr. China breaks the agreement. Mr. USA is still confused. Mr. USA says: "How much is your one Yuan worth? Mr. China says: "It is worth more than all your dollars put together, end on end, until that debt money reaches the Sun and turns to ashes." Mr. USA needs to think about this for a moment. Above is a 'commercial break'. The 'powers that be' do interupt the real show from time to time as their power depends upon consumer confidence. One has the option of switching channels these days: http://www.bu.edu/globalbeat/ Reuters reports that Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick has told Congress that the future of U.S.-China relations will be determined by Beijing's response to the Iran nuclear crisis. But his comments didn't seem to have any impact on China's opposition to a resolution threatening sanctions. Indeed, it's rather unlikely that Beijing sees the matter of Iran's nuclear program as a make-or-break issue in its relations with Washington, as much as an opportunity to signal the U.S. on the extent to which the geopolitical picture is changing. (Reuters via Washington Post, May 11, 2006) I do desire a return to the regularly scheduled program on International Money Logic. |

http://forum.atimes.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7230 Discovery is a process: Comrades, we must allow the renminbi to rise
Can it be known: Will our future be bright or dim? I am thinking in terms of one human species. Will we manage prosperity for posterity or, on the other hand, will we ensure mutual destruction. Now this may seem a bit pre-mature to take such an extreme possition however; one might at least flip a coin on the off chance that the expected outcome may somehow inspire some effort to push the odds in favor of the common sense outcome. Can we pause just a moment for some entertainment? http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/times.html Come gather 'round people These words don't stick for some reason:
Try it yourself. Time will change. And soon enough you may ask yourself if your time to you is worth saving. When that time comes, then, see if you can remember the words. A baby boomer like me may have that melody, 'the tune', playing somewhere in their bio-Ipod, if not, then, and if one is willing to take this little test, do find the song and play it a few times. The tune is somewhat attractive. It can stick. As time goes on, then, sing along some, the test is: see if the words come to mind - see if you can impart meaning into the words: "If your time to you is worth savin'". I failed, at first, and will fail again, and again, like a broken record as if my mind were pre-programmed to think otherwise; as if my time, to me, is worth nothing. Enough entertainment? The topic is framed in such a way as to propose something specific and in this manner the current effort is to apply critical thought toward a specific desired end; an end, I might add, that remains out of reach for me - like a light at the end of a tunnel always and forever distant. So, now, looking at the information linked above; one might conclude that the light is no longer as far away and, further, that the light may actually be approaching, measurably, in a manner that could be described with words like: accelerating velocity. Does this scenario appear in a manner similar to a person on the tracks, in the tunnel, or an audience, in a theater, watching a movie of a person, on the tracks, in a tunnel, as the light grows larger, turning, perceptibly becoming a very, very fast moving train? If not, then, what are these current events telling? Is it an untold story, in progress, and: to be continued? I've proposed the extreme ends and can add to that scope: Are we on the verge of "Utopia", a second coming, and judgment day? Is that the light? Is that true? Perhaps not Can one imagine into being a scenario whereby a prophecy is fulfilled for the end of time itself? Scope, light, truth, and marking the vast frontier of possibility is, perhaps, mere entertainment for the speculators who invest in futures, while, the wise ones prefer to simply observe and react as needed. Where is, then, the common denominator, the happy medium, the sensible, conservative, even scientific, and accurate method enabling reason to win the day? What is the practical perspective? All the above is trite, superfluous, and of no value whatsoever. Words are nothing. The practical thing to do is to act. Find the practical thing. What is that middle? Suppose that it is found. I mean: suppose that one does understand the need to find the middle. Call it right, accurate, precise, true, practical, real, free from error; call it whatever but suppose, for a minute, that one does find it; the need for IT. What happens next? Might it be a good idea to give this THING a word? One might wish to say SOMETHING to the closest person. I’m going to throw out a few possibilities: Liberty Equity Justice We, the people, can argue until the end of time, as to, the more accurate term to describe IT; this finding of IT. That would be finding the word, then, and not finding IT. Meanwhile the world is changing. I’m just entertaining myself, looking in the mirror at my imaginary reader, and winking. Equity is between Liberty and Justice. One might look it up. I forgot a few items: Look up Look down Look up Look down Is that resembling reproduction in a perverse kind of way? I look at the mirror. My reflection is winking back with an almost imperceptible expression whispering: Equity. On topic: Those are military tanks. That is an individual standing in front of those military tanks. Is IT real? That item can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989 And on the other side: ![]() That is something. It is found here: http://www.public-action.com/SkyWriter/WacoMuseum/war/page/w_catalo.html Just in case one is confused as to what that last picture above is: ![]() Just in case someone is confused as to why I posted the above items for comparison, if one has an interest that is: When push comes to shove, like the USA pushing China, for example, then, one is bound to resolve the issue in one manner or another. One might want to get and idea as to which one fires first and, perhaps more importantly, why one fires first. That item, the getting of it, may help one judge for oneself, as to, the meaning of the term justice. More importantly one might learn how to avoid that whole mess. One might listen when another one offers a peaceful solution especially if the offer is equitable. http://forum.atimes.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7230 Discovery is a process: Comrades, we must allow the renminbi to rise
Can it be known: Will our future be bright or dim? Meeting in the middle may be a good idea. My reflection looks back thinking: "You will always be Stupid: thank God". Last edited on Wed May 17th, 2006 01:00 pm by Joe Kelley |
