http://tomdispatch.com/post/174919/michael_klare_oil_rules_ ++++++++++ It's strange that the business and geopolitics of energy takes up so little space on American front pages -- or that we could conduct an oil war in Iraq with hardly a mention of the words "oil" and "war" in the same paragraph in those same papers over the years. Strange indeed. And yet, oil rules our world and energy lies behind so many of the headlines that might seem to be about other matters entirely. ++++++++++ Energy is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy ++++++++ Energy is often defined as the ability to do work. ++++++++ Energy is 'not yet' happening. Energy is not current. Energy is a store or BANK. A bank filled with energy is much better than a bank filled with nothing. See? A bank filled with the ability to do work is better than a bank filled with no ability to do work. Please consider the wisdom of replacing the term "Energy" with the term "POWER". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power +++++++ Power is the ability of a person to control or influence the choices of other persons. +++++++ Does that sound like work? While the criminals are busy destroying innocent people over here, the criminals are busy creating a scene over there. Look at my left hand; don’t look at my right hand. The bottom line is POWER not ENERGY. I'm going to read the rest of the DOOM DAY PARADE propaganda and see if there is anything, at all, written to even hint at the facts concerning who produces POWER and therefore who is more powerful and who is only powerful through deception and violence. In other words my intent is to expose the failure to accurately empower honest people with the knowledge of their power over falsehood. If that is missing in this piece of propaganda, then please, anyone, explain that omission? Please +++++++++ This new world order will be characterized by fierce international competition for dwindling stocks of oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium, as well as by a tidal shift in power and wealth from energy-deficit states like China, Japan, and the United States to energy-surplus states like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. In the process, the lives of everyone will be affected in one way or another -- with poor and middle-class consumers in the energy-deficit states experiencing the harshest effects. That's most of us and our children, in case you hadn't quite taken it in. ++++++++++ Doom, all Doom, and nothing but the Doom, so help us Satan? ++++++++++ A number of other innovative energy solutions have already been developed and even tested out in university and corporate laboratories. But these alternatives, which now contribute only a tiny percentage of the world's net fuel supply, are simply not being developed fast enough to avert the multifaceted global energy catastrophe that lies ahead. ++++++++++ Is that a ray of sunshine? ++++++++++ The high costs and risks of modern warfare are well known and there is a widespread perception that energy problems can best be solved through economic means, not military ones. Nevertheless, the major powers are employing military means in their efforts to gain advantage in the global struggle for energy, and no one should be deluded on the subject. These endeavors could easily enough lead to unintended escalation and conflict. ++++++++++ Back to DOOM, all DOOM, and nothing but DOOM as far as the eye can see? Seriously; this piece is couched to praise ‘us’ against ‘them’. “We” (the capitalists) can solve the ‘energy’ problem while they (Russia, China, Venezuela, and perhaps ‘the terrorists’) are evil and in our way. The hidden message is that the end is inevitable and ‘they’ are responsible. How about a look at the word “responsible” from a time reference? Before Dooms Day does run its course the people can prepare for it. People can respond right now to a perceived future calamity. Once the worst of it is over and the people pick themselves back up by their own boot straps the people who “responded” well will be in a better position than those who “responded” poorly. The accounts of those who responded well will be filled with powerful forces while those who responded poorly are apt to have their accounts filled with power-less forces. Suppose, for example, someone responded to the Dooms Day Parade today with a dumping of Dollar Denominated Assets (liquefy retirement contracts for example) and a purchase of a home power generating system and two electric cars. Suppose a neighbor responded to the Dooms Day Parade today with a similar dumping of Dollar Denominated Assets (perhaps a refinance of the home mortgage for cash) to purchase guns, ammo, and a large stock of water, food, a home gasoline POWERED generator, and gasoline. Perhaps the neighbor cashed in his savings account and purchased gold coins too. Suppose another neighbor responded to the Dooms Day Parade today with a restructuring of Dollar Denominated Assets by purchasing Halliburton Stock, Exxon stock, and a basket of currencies (Euros, Yen, and Yuan). Suppose the majority of the neighborhood responded to the Dooms Day Parade by buying more beer, more drugs, less sleep, and less productive work or even destructive work and an occasional party. Suppose a few select members of the neighborhood joined the newest private contract business bubble euphemistically called: “Homeland Security”. Who is banking on, and investing in, an inevitable self-fulfilling Dooms Day Prophecy? Who is going to fill their accounts with power-full forces required in the production of a prosperous future? The brain, people, is the store of power that is being filled now. Without brain power the response to the Dooms Day Parade may be self-defeating. The response to the Dooms Day Parade may end up transferring even more power to the criminals who produce Dooms Day. The responsible thing to do now is to use the power available, now, to create more power now and keep that power at home, now, so as to have the power needed to over-power all enemies foreign and domestic with more than a cursory acknowledgement of the domestic threats. The responsible thing to do now is to be accurate in knowing the truth. When the time comes to count how well our current investments have matured it will be too late to be responsible. The time to be responsible is now and it may be a good idea to account for those crimes committed by those criminals who are torturing and mass murdering RIGHT NOW! I try not to abuse the exclamation point. Back to the article: ++++++++++ What this adds up to is simple and sobering: the end of the world as you've known it. In the new, energy-centric world we have all now entered, the price of oil will dominate our lives and power will reside in the hands of those who control its global distribution. ++++++++++ Why is this article couched as Dooms Day? I have some possible answers to consider: A. The person has invested in and therefore has a vested interest in the currency fraud. In other words the idea of constructing and maintaining an accurate currency competes with his debt based currency profit mechanisms and therefore the end of The Dollar Hegemony, from his view, is a disaster rather than a blessed opportunity. Much more can be discussed about that possibility but this is an academic exercise since the facts are more important than the speculation. I’m speculating and it would be much better to hear the facts concerning the motives behind couching the report as just another goose step in the Dooms Day Parade. Therefore no B is written in the list. The fact is that people require a power that can be called CREDIT. Credit is an ability to purchase based upon an ability to produce. Credit is a power. Right now the power of credit is a monopoly power that is wielded by criminals. If the same criminals (who are torturing and mass murdering right now) who monopolize the power to control CREDIT now retain that power during and after Dooms Day, well, the people suffering from the abuse of that POWER will continue to suffer from the abuse of that POWER. This should be simple rather than complicated. Those criminals (who are torturing and mass murdering now) could be slowed down (less torture and less mass murder) if they were tried by the people, in some manner, for their current abuse of their current POWER as they continue to accelerate their torturing and mass murdering. If you are not yet being tortured and murdered, certainly, you are not experiencing the real Dooms Day yet. Having to do without CREDIT and OIL POWER offered at a high price by those who control those POWERS now or in the near future is reasonably less torturous and murderous as actual torture and actual murder don’t you think? That is a serious question: Don’t you think? Responding to The Dooms Day Parade in a predictable manner is akin to Pavlov’s dog salivating when the bell rings. Why do that? The linked article inspiring my response ends with this: +++++++++++ This leads to a final observation: The most pressing decision facing the next president and Congress may be how best to accelerate the transition from a fossil-fuel-based energy system to a system based on climate-friendly energy alternatives. +++++++++++ That confesses something. Would anyone on this forum hazard a guess? Help from above? http://www.lewrockwell.com/suprynowicz/suprynowicz79.html +++++++++++ "A.) Many, many times. Before Adolf Hitler came to power, there was a black market in firearms, but the German people had been so conditioned to be law abiding, that they would never consider buying an unregistered gun. The German people really believed that only hoodlums own such guns. What fools we were. ... "There is no doubt in my mind that millions of lives could have been saved if the people were not 'brainwashed' about gun ownership and had been well armed. Hitler's thugs and goons were not very brave when confronted by a gun. Gun haters always want to forget the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which is a perfect example of how a ragtag, half-starved group of Jews took up 10 handguns and made asses out of the Nazis." ++++++++++++ +++++++ Since then, crime has indeed crept upward, along with a lot of other infringements on our freedoms, our happiness and our prosperity. What has changed since 1913 that might help us explain that? Can any of you "progressives" out there help me, here? +++++++ OH OH OH pick me, pick me <raising hand waving like a grade school child not yet targeted for torture and murder>
